Hellistic American Gothic

Description

This pencil drawing required a lot of reference shots. I used my friend Liza as a reference for the she-devil, although I didn't try to make it look exactly like her. For example, I combined her with the original woman from Grant Wood's "American Gothic," including giving Liza a long neck. I used myself loosely as the model for the Devil, which required giving myself no hair but a mustache and goatee. The clothes I tried to match with the idea that she is a seductive feminine creature and that he is a well dressed demon. When I was looking online at other versions that people had made of this classic painting, I was surprised to see that nobody had thought of the farmer's pitchfork as being easy to transform into Satan's pitchfork, and my drawing sprang from that.
